As
we look for new solutions to ease the unnecessary damage that we are causing the environment, we must look towards forms of
control and education of the general public of the role each of us can play.
At envotec we have helped to develop the
ecocup which we feel will assist all types of public events, not only as a way of limiting the amount of waste products that
are inevitably created at such events but also the responsibility for this waste lying with the general public.
In
the case of a festival organizer of a public event of 5,000 visitors, the imposing of a compulsory order for the
use of ecocup would save the organisers the need to deal with 12,500 disposable cups alone. whether the cost of the clear
up is borne by the event organisers or the council, the amount of waste and labour costs are not altered. The aim must be
to not allow the waste to be created, therefore restraints need to be enforced on vendors by event organisers to curb
this.
envotec have devised a simple system for the supply of reusable cups.
We
are flexible as to the role we can play, either in assisting event organisers with the implementation of our system
or by direct sales. the decisions to reduce unnecessary waste have to be made now, for every public event that is allowed to continue unchanged is a day further away from getting to grips with the problem.
